And thus concludes Minnie and Mia’s short foray into the question of having kids or no… (for now).
I never had kids of my own and I think we need more awareness of the fact that not wanting to procreate is a totally viable choice.
(I do have stepkids and comics-foster-kids. Honestly, why would you make kids when there are already pretty cool kids out there who need your presence in their lives? To me, wanting to birth your own kids feels like literally creating your own problems; and then needing to be validated by the world for dealing with them, instead of helping the kids who are already there.)
Visiting friends with kids should be listed as birth control!
In Spain we have this saying "CrÃa cuervos y te sacarán los ojos"
I am taking care of my almost 5 year olds twins and I'm constantly in awe of their disdain and total lack of compassion for me. It is brutal :-D
On the other hand their love it is awesome. It is really a toxic relationship.
Nobody needs to procreate, to raise a child is amazing and complicated, we live in a system that doesn't facilitate care. It has to be a choice and a meditated one.And children need other adults that there are not their parents to take care of them, we need community, all of us.
